This Chinese wall fan is completely hand-painted and crafted by hand as well. It will make a gorgeous decorative display on any wall in your home office den or business. The scene in this work is a tribute to the great tradition of Chinese landscape paintings that date back thousands of years. Many art critics consider the landscape to be the chief art form of Chinese art. Chinese landscape painting peaked around the years 900-1130 AD from the time of the Five Dynasties period to the Northern Song period. The artistic stars from the North of China at the time were painters known as Guo Xi Jing Hao and Fan Kuan. They painted landscapes that showcased tall impressive mountains similar to the mountains in this fabulous Chinese fan. These great Chinese artists of the past used ink wash sharp and dotted brush stokes plus the use of strong black lines to depict the texture of the rockiness of the mountains. In the South of China other artists were painting slightly different scenes as the terrain was less mountainous and more flat. These artists painted peaceful countryside scenes that included rolling hills and lush foliage. These two types of scenes went on to become the two classical styles of Chinese landscape painting. Both have their influence in the wonderful scene you see before you. It was during the Song Dynasty that most Chinese painters began to paint with a sense of subtleness that went unseen in the earlier Tang Dynasty period. Chinese artists broke away from clear delineated forms and painted in a more impressionistic style. Mountains blurred off and disappeared into the mist outlines became nebulous and water land and sky all seemed to be one. The Chinese artists of the time were exploring and seeking to achieve inner harmony with their outer surrounds. This played in perfectly with the concepts embodied by the Taoist and Buddhists where all is one and separation is simply an illusion of our senses. This wonderful Chinese wall fan blends together the classical thoughts of Chinese landscape painting with bold colors to achieve a heightened work of rich beauty. Add a touch of the Orient to your home with this exquisite hand-painted fan.
