This exquisite statue capture Buddha in a contemplative moment. His legs are crossed and his hand placed in his lap in meditation and he wears the simple robes of an ascetic monk. A few keys aspects of Buddha's appearance are well represented. His ear lobes are elongated from the time before his enlightenment when he wore heavy jewelry. His appears quite slender, as befits a wandering ascetic who is more focused on ultimate enlightenment than on worldly pleasure.
