This army is actually a collection of full-scale terra cotta sculptures guarding the Mausoleum of the First Emperor of China, Qin Shi Huang. The original figures date to as far back as 3rd century BC, with the entire army numbering 8,000 soldiers, 520 horses, 130 chariots, and a host of other figures including acrobats and musicians. The excavated Mausoleum of the First Qin Emperor and the Terracotta Army is now a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
