This beautiful Chinese porcelain fishbowl is styled with an attractive gold leaf lacquer, with a hand painted motif of colorful birds and flowers. During the Jin Dynasty and Tang Dynasty in ancient China, golden carps were placed inside these porcelain fishbowls for display and decorative purposes. Carp breeding was usually done in ponds; but these carps were transferred into smaller enclosures indoors during gatherings and special affairs. Today, these lovely Chinese fishbowls are used mainly for decorative purposes--with or without the fish. You may use this porcelain fishbowl as an accent piece in your room or as an indoor or outdoor planter. Place a thick glass on top and use this fishbowl as coffee table base. This beautifully hand painted Chinese fishbowl also comes with an optional wooden stand in exquisite rosewood finish.

Optional wooden stand measures 9.5" in diameter.
