This large Mandarin Chinese lamp has an intentionally flattened shape to make it an ideal fit when placed against a wall or on a table where there is not enough depth to accommodate a more symmetrically shaped lamp. The orangeish red color and the distinct Chinese figures from a bygone age are iconic of fine pottery of Southern China. The line art that is featured all around the vase is also exemplary of this period.
