Product Description

The dragon was the symbol of Chinese emperors for many centuries and is attributed with having mystical powers. This gorgeous red velvet hand-painted dragon wall fan is sure to be the stunning decorative piece on your wall you have been looking for. Made entirely of bamboo and velvet, this durable fan will serve as decoration on your wall for years and years to come. The Chinese regard red as a fire color, which is one of the five elements of ancient Chinese physics. Red is also associated with joy and prosperity and often used in artwork. The dragons depicted on this fabulous wall fan are painted in rainbow-like vibrant colors that really make them stand out. The artist's use of greens, oranges, yellow, blues and purple bring the dragons to life and allow them to contrast sharply from the all-maroon background color. In the middle of the dragons is a fiery pearl, which they are contesting. This scene stems back to ancient China, over 2,000 years ago, when the Emperor's coat of arms portrayed two dragons fighting for a pearl. This image was placed on many of the Emperor's property, including clothing, battle weapons (such as shields) and ritual objects. The Emperor was actually known as "The True Dragon" and his throne was called "the dragon seat". So infatuated were the emperors with the dragon that the famous Chinese poet Qu Yuan is said to have believed the Yellow Emperor (aka Huan-ti), who lived in the years 2697-2598 BCE, was flown to heaven by a team of dragons. While not all dragons depicted in Chinese art have wings, the ability to fly was fundamental to the Chinese dragon. Another thing to notice is the five claws the dragons have in this extraordinary wall fan. The five claws symbolized the Emperor and could not be associated with any other person. A dragon of four claws was associated with the nobility or officials of lesser status. Today, the dragon can be seen across all spectrums of life, from tattoos to movies and artwork to clothing and more. Bring home a piece of Chinese history with this brilliant red velvet dragon wall fan. Available in two sizes.

Customer Feedback regarding custom wallfan:

We wanted to express our gratitude for all the trouble you went to creating the Blue Crane wall fan to match the guest bedroom. The blue color and large cranes in the wall fan coordinate perfectly with the colors in the room and the round mirror that features a large crane.
