The samurai of Japan began wearing battle armor (called keiko) around the year 300 AD. This magnificent statue exhibits a samurai in traditional lamellar armor, which consists of small overlapping plates that protect the body. The armor became more advanced as the centuries elapsed. Still, from the beginning, the armored wear of the samurai provided strength, durability and flexibility. One of the most eye-catching parts of the armored set is the helmet, called a kabuto. This offered full protection to the samurai and made him a very dangerous entity on the battlefield. His weapon of choice here is the yari, a long straight-headed pole with a sharp blade. Beautifully cast in cold resin and hand-painted in painstaking detail, this incredible Japanese statue will make an awesome conversation piece and create a splendid decorative effect in any spot.
