The Sakura Cherry Blossom is a popular and much beloved sight in Japan. It is a long Japanese tradition, from March to May, when the cherry trees are in bloom, for families to gather near the blooming trees for picnics. Originally, this was a custom only of the Japanese Imperial Court, but it soon spread, and now all Japanese look forward to the blooming of the cherry trees. Cherry blossoms are valued not just because they're beautiful, but also because their beauty is fleeting; the trees are only in bloom for less than two weeks before they lose their flowers. Like displays of fall foliage in Northeast America, the celebrations of the Cherry Blossoms are so popular the Japanese National Weather Service issues forecasts telling when the trees will be in bloom. Folk songs have been written about the cherry blossom, and it isn't uncommon in Japan to see pictures of cherry blossoms on everyday items. The concept of the cherry blossom festival has even spread outside of Japan. One of the gifts by the Japanese Emperor to the United States in 1912 was 3000 cherry trees, which were planted in Washington DC. Now, each year Washington DC has the National Cherry Blossom Festival, where the people of Washington can watch the cherry blossoms themselves. Now our beautiful Sakura Cherry Blossom Bamboo Blinds can remind you daily of spring, and bring joy to your heart no matter the season.
