Sukeroku is the fictional hero of a famous Japanese Edo Kabuki play by the same name. An "otokodate," or gallant, common man, Sukeroku was charged by his mother to avenge the murder of his father. The play takes us along Sukeroku’s journey, twisting and turning as the young man, who is the object of the affections of many courtesans, takes a stand to protect commoners along the way. In the end, he gets his man. In this stunning representation, the fearless Sukeroku strikes us with a commanding gaze. His head band and the hilt of his sword are adorned in the noble color purple, adding a regal heir to the scene. The image is intricately stitched into our durable Japanese norens, using bold colors and artistic composition. Easy to hang with a tension rod, our norens are the perfect way to add decorative flair to your home or work setting. Split along the middle for easy entry, the Sukeroku Doorway Curtain is sewn in a quality cotton-rayon blend. These hanging curtains are a traditional Japanese ornament, often used by merchants to alert passersby of an open business. Our versatile norens can also be used to create private spaces, or can even be hung on a wall as artistic tapestries. They are sure to help you make any space entertaining and inviting. Bamboo pole not included.
