All things have a story...
“Feng Shui” in Chinese translates to “wind and water”. Thousands of years ago in ancient China, a careful study of “chi” or “life energy” was made by the Chinese. They diligently examined the way energy moved through objects, such as buildings, water, and furniture. They then created a system so that chi would move through these objects easily and not be encumbered and stagnate. By moving freely, chi can help people to benefit by increasing their energy, which in turn creates good health, prosperity and sound relationships. Water is one of the central elements (out of five central elements) in the feng shui system. People have always gravitated towards water, as it is the staff of life. Almost every major city in the ancient world was built on or near great rivers, seas or oceans. Homes near water ways usually are worth more than homes built inland. Even if you do not live on the water, which relatively few people do, you can increase your chi, prosperity, health and relations by properly using water in your home. How can this be done? The answer is water decor. Flowing water in your home will increase your chi, but the water must be kept moving, clean and fresh. Water in your sink or bathtub is not effective, as it is stagnant. One of the best ways of using water inside your home is with an indoor water fountain that has a generator to continually move the water. Fish tanks and water sculptures are also good, but fountains work best. When using water as an element in your home, the container of the water also plays an important part. In general, containers made from metal (such as copper) work better than containers made from earthen material. A metal container will strengthen the water element and improve circulation of the chi in it. The next question people usually ask is, “Where should I place my water element, or indoor water fountain?” That depends on the arrangement of your home. A central location, such as a living room, is usually best. In that way, you can hear the soothing sounds and smell the fresh invigorating air it provides from most rooms in your home. Used properly, water decor can make a tremendous difference to improving the feng shui of your home, your health and your family. Try it out and see for yourself.
