The dragon is the only creature that is mythical, while all the others are real animals found in nature, such as the rat, the ox, the tiger, etc. The year of the dragon comes around every 12 years, and the next year for the dragon begins on January 23, 2012. The year of the dragon is said to be a very auspicious annum in Chinese lore. Many families try to plan births in this year. The dragon represents the 5th position in the Chinese zodiac and has the most powerful attributes of all the signs. Dragon people are said to display traits of ambition and dominance throughout their lives. They often wish to live by their own rules and love to take on challenges. Dragon people are passionate about life and often attract others to them because of their strong personalities. Just like the mythological dragon, people born in the year of the dragon can display fiery tempers. But they do have a soft side and can be very compassionate and giving.
