Entirely hand carved, this magnificent statue is a replica of the Buddha sitting in meditation pose with a fabulous halo around his head. The halo represents the spiritual energy manifested by the Buddha. His hands are in the Dhyana mudra, which is said to consume impurities and foster concentration. This is an indoor statue only.
Tradition states that the Buddha used this mudra when meditating under the Bodhi tree before his enlightenment. It has and continues to be used by young aspirants and monks as a method for attaining perfect balance of body, mind and thought.
