This beautiful painting features a green bamboo tree captured during the winter months in China. Hang it in any room for fabulous Oriental decor. Chinese landscape paintings have a long history dating back thousands of years. The earliest Chinese landscape paintings were made on silk. In the 6th century, paper became the favored material of artists and these early Chinese landscape paintings were mostly made with black inks, although colored inks were used as well. Chinese landscape paintings present a different perspective than Western paintings. For one, objects in Chinese landscape paintings almost always look flat with little attention paid to distance or depth. This is partly the result of the immediacy of using ink versus oils, the traditional paint of European painters. Chinese painters could not, therefore, go back and rework their image.
