This special statue portrays a synthesis of two Hindu gods – Shiva and his wife, Parvati – into one form, called Ardhanari. Shiva forms the right side of the statue while Parvati makes out the left. The significance of this statue is that Shiva has offered his body to his wife and has absorbed Parvati into his self. This statue also represents the duality of the universe, with the male or yang side on the right and the female or yin side on the left.
